Yep, you can. With FOQA data, I think we've been seeing more of it.

It's a tough thing for some to admit though. The I can still save this approach! mindset is still out there.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Heh.

I was learning to fly gliders years ago.  I had gotten to solo'ing but not gotten my license yet.

There was lots I loved about gliding, somethings I didn't.  One of my main reasons to give it up was I just didn't like the idea of not having a go-around option.

November 30, 2012, Los Angeles, runway 24R, with the Santa Ana’s blowing vigorously.  A night approach, go around, and successful landing etched permanently in my brain pan forever.   A detail story for later.

Ha, I see a lot of landings at my local airport there (Wellington, NZ) - like the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and maybe 6th. They are quite a common occurrence. Many a time I have sat there look out the window at the runway approaching as we flew in sideways.

One time we were coming in on a rough one, and there was this young attractive lady sitting next time (I swear she was an actress, couldn't remember what from though). Half way in she grabbed my hand and hung on for dear life. Once we landed she thanked me for being so calm. I couldn't tell her I had given in to the fact that it was likely one day this airport would take my life.

Here's a good video of some...

Any landing that lets you use the airplane again is a great landing.

I had to go around on my first solo, a Pegasus Q-wing.
Flying without another person in it made it float forever, and crosswind did not help me at all.
My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.
