you can custom paint the case.  give it a nice touch. i painted mine blue with plastic cover front and top bright red.

semp

Bizman must have a bug in my house. she was just saying she wants a pink case.

If it were any color but pink. being a painter myself I could easily paint it.
Pink is one of THE most difficult colors to get to cover

No. I instructed her to find a mid to full tower ATX case and lat me look at it first before she orders it.
I definitely show her this case though

Like so:

the card is what we are heing and hawing over. that card is on back order through newegg for $399

Question is. Do we do the back order? or order a card we know is available now?

Is this a better card for $20 more?

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER DirectX 12 GV-N206SGAMING OC-8GD v2.0 8GB 256-Bit GDDR6 PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card
$419

The other cards we are considering are..

the one you mention on back order for $399

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 Super WINDFORCE OC 8G Graphics Card, 2 x WINDFORCE Fans, 8GB 256-Bit GDDR6, GV-N206SWF2OC-8GD Video Card

Orrrrr

NVIDIA - GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 PCI Express Graphics Card $399

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2060-super-8gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-black-silver/6361329.p?acampID=633495&cmp=RMX&loc=RYpweaQ3HxyOWeM0TbWK8Xs3UkiU6JRVI0l-XM0&ref=198&refdomain=pcpartpicker.com&skuId=6361329
I chose the card just because it was the cheapest 2060 super from a reliable manufacturer. The Bestbuy version looks like a reference card and for what I've learned they're usually a bit noisier than those with a manufacturer redesigned cooling system. Asus or MSI or Evga are good choices as well.

Did you kill your last parts post with the Vid card? It seems ot have vanished.

so back tot eh question

Is this a better card for $20 more?

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER DirectX 12 GV-N206SGAMING OC-8GD v2.0 8GB 256-Bit GDDR6 PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card
$419

https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-2060-super-gv-n206sgaming-oc-8gd-v2-0/p/N82E16814932250?item=N82E16814932250&nm_mc=knc-googleadwords&cm_mmc=knc-googleadwords-_-video%20card%20-%20nvidia-_-gigabyte-_-14932250&source=region

OR

the one  on back order for $399

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 Super WINDFORCE OC 8G Graphics Card, 2 x WINDFORCE Fans, 8GB 256-Bit GDDR6, GV-N206SWF2OC-8GD Video Card
https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-2060-super-gv-n206swf2oc-8gd/p/N82E16814932174?Description=NVIDIA%20-%20GeForce%20RTX%202060%20super&cm_re=NVIDIA_-%20GeForce%20RTX%202060%20super-_-14-932-174-_-Product

The $419 one is available now. The one on back order.. well, I have no experience on how long that takes.
some part I know wont arrive till the 21st at the earliest

Is the $419 card better or at least as good? Or is it a POS for whatever reason?

As I said, the one on my list was just the cheapest top tier brand card. The $419 one seems to have one fan more which may make it run both cooler and quieter. Other than that, I can't really tell much difference. My approach to the components has always been that if the manufacturer is well known then the product should do its job.

The M2 SSD is very simple to install,  it goes directly onto the MB and is held in place by one screw.  No cables and way faster than standard SSD's  = winning.

I was a bit dubious about them too at first but will be getting a 1TB soon as I have some spare cash.

Yepp. The only caveat is to put the raiser. The first M.2 I saw was already installed by an acquaintance who's been in the IT business for quite a while. I was called for help because the new build didn't boot. We kept wondering why the SSD sat there slanted but since there was no "no hard disk found" message we suspected a technical fault based on how the previous systems worked...

The Gigabyte card with 3 fans is a faster card - its Core Clock is 1710 Mhz, which is faster yet than the Boost Clock of the $399 nVidia card, at 1650 MHz.  I'd spend the extra $20 and get the faster card.  Though the $399 nVidia card is smartly styled and a better looking card (IMO).

All parts ordered now.
Decided to go with the 3 fan card mostly because of immediate availability

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER DirectX 12 GV-N206SGAMING OC-8GD v2.0 8GB 256-Bit GDDR6 PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card

Went over a bit but I half expected that. I just didnt want to get into one of those "well if we are going to get this. for $20 more you can... " deals and the next thing you know, your $1,000 give or take build, becomes a $2,000 give or take build. I know how projects can sometimes take on a life of their own. LOL

She is paying for most of this herself so I wanted to keep the budget as low as possible . (Must be nice to still live at home and have no major bills and a COVID check coming in)

We...  Meaning all of you and I. likely would have kept it to under the $1,000 mark had it not been for the game she wants to play. But. she plays enough games to make the investment worth it. At some point she may get another SDD .  Flipping Cyberpunk77 is like an 80Gig file size by itself.

Anyway. All that is now left is her picking a case and waiting on the deliveries.

Thank you one and all for your help. Just know it is much appreciated.

I would just get a platter drive for large games like that.

You'll love the M.2. it's fast! It installs like a laptop memory stick, except you may need to remove the hold-down screw, slide it into the slot, then fold it down against the motherboard. The screw holds it in place and it'll never move or become disconnected.
Easy in-game again.

And that is the card we went with. Though I dont know if there is a huge difference between 1710 and 1650 or even $20 worth of difference.
Like I said it was mostly because of availability so I didnt have to guess as to when the other might be restocked. Not having to worry about that answer was with the extra $20 to me (Im paying the difference for her).

As far as looks are concerned she doesnt care and i really dont care. I mean really. How often do people sit around looking at the components inside the case? They could be as ugly as a nekked Rosanne Barr after a week long drunk on a bad hair day. I only care about if the parts are good and if they are running correctly. LOL

Didn't care to check further than the looks as the extra speed most likely won't show in everyday performance. What's more important is that the faster chips might be of better quality. They're all made in the same process but those  in the center of the batch usually perform better.

80gb is not too bad,  DCS with all modules and terrains might use something like 300gb.

There is a Mac version. The one you have is for PCs/Windows machines.

The Mac version will not work with an iPad either.
