So on the 4th my mom who is 71 and her boyfriend came out for a BBQ and while they were here I had them try my Rift S.
We got the headset put on Dave who is in his mid to late 70's and was a flight engineer in the military. He talked about the B-49's and B-52's and said he got out of the service just as they were going full jet engine on everything and he and others couldn't get out fast enough because they didn't want to have to deal with the new flight system.
Any way back to the topic. I got him hooked up and took off in a 410. He looks around and says "Well look at that big engine over there." along with other quotes like "Golly" and "Gosh" I took him up and around a base, did a few rolls and loops and landed back on the runway. Interesting flying while someone else is looking around in pilot view lol. He says "Well aint that somethin?" and "Well this aint half bad".
I then took Mom up in a KI-84 and put her through a few more violent maneuvers that all made her smile and laugh ending with me crashing into the top of a hanger as I tried to fly through it. She was dissapointed that there wasn't more to the crash then being popped back to the tower lol.
Neither one of them showed any signs of motion sickness and enjoyed the ride thoroughly.
I then had them try Skyrim VR and Big screen beta.. Dave was so engrossed watching one of the other Big screen beta users throw virtual popcorn at him in the theater that he hardly noticed the 3D movie trailer that was playing lol. Was really fun watching him twist and turn looking around and waving his arms here and there.
Thought I would share this fun moment with you all though I wish I had recorded it to show you because it's really fun to watch someone try VR for the first time and I think even more fun when its someone of advanced years with less technological experience
