Looks like MW will only play other teams in the conference. Are the BIG conferences playing agains each other? And is it expected to have a national championship?
They're casting their bait over there, see?

Everyone is sticking to just their own conferences I think, so they can agree on the rules.

Also, this could be (not) a thing:

And Wisconsin - Nebraska is cancelled, and the next few Wisconsin games, including against my team, Purdue, are in doubt.

And I'm not really worried about the players, its by now shown to be highly improbable they'll have any long-lasting effects. Its the older people in the program who are at risk.  And 6 staff members on Wisconsin are infected right now:

Also, the Dodgers pulled some shenanigans last night with the infected pitcher playing anyways in the World Series. The whole his test didn't come back until he pitched most of the innings he was going to pitch, I don't believe for a second. Someone got payed to bottle that up until later.

Seeing more and more talk of Nebraska leaving the Big Ten because they hate all the conference decisions.  Would be a good time to pick up Notre Dame or Vanderbilt or some other school with an actual educational program.  Also an athletic program. Since joining the B1G Nebraska has been good in... volleyball?  I think that's it.

Sweet!   :aok

I was super impressed by the Wolverines in game 1.

Offense looked great.  All the new elements -- new quarterback, new offensive line, new receivers -- were clicking.

Defense looked good against what I think is still a very good offense with Morgan, Bateman, and Ibrahim and a system by PJ Fleck.

Purdue had a great game! <S>

Wisconsin isn't required to cancel any games currently.  They chose to cancel against Nebraska.  So if there aren't a lot more Covid positives before the Purdue game, they could choose to play it.

But it would be without all the players who recently got a positive Covid test.  All those guys are out 21 days from date of 1st positive test.  They would be playing Purdue with the 4th-string QB.

Mertz isn't back until either Michigan game or one after that (depending on whether that test happened last Saturday or Sunday).

If they cancelled on their own it should be a forfeit instead of a no contest.  You'd think for whatever week the 21 day things expired they could change the date to play it Sunday or Monday.

Purdue wins, goes 2-0, Illinois plays their 4th and 5th string QBs, the 4th string was by far the best passer.

Wisconsin next on the schedule, if they play they also will be down to the 4th string I think.

Such cancellations in these days of Covid are ruled by Big 10 a "no contest" and not counted as a loss -- same as if there were just no game.

I don't think teams have much ability to change dates.

Ug.

Wolverines lose -- at home -- to unranked Michigan State, which was just off a loss to Rutgers.

Favored by more than 20 points, but end up losing by 3.
