F6F-5P VF-84 Lt. John J. Sargent
« on: November 13, 2020, 04:48:54 AM »
I was looking to do plane no.135 but trying to figure where and what type of camera on it was a dead end. It may have had the F6F-3P trimetrogon arrangement but i can't even find what that looks like or the placement. So i went with 132 and there was info on a pilot that had flew it so that's even better. Sargent was an ace with VF-84 but like many in that squad he was killed when the Bunker Hill was hit by a Kamikaze attack.

This one carried one oblique camera and the markings on the wing are for "aiming" the camera on target. It was pictured with 134 which didn't have the wing markings and was believed to carry the trimetrogon which was better for mapping. They worked in pairs so would make sense for the two to have different setups. Also they removed the rocket pylons for most runs and they were assumed to be zinc chromate primer showing where they were. Looking at it here i need to tone down the yellow nose.

That is a nice yellow but, it did jump out and punch me in the face with that brightness.

That's a nice skin Whiteman, congrats on your first Hellcat. I agree with Volron though that the yellow looks too bright and saturated. Are the white lines on the LH wing some sort of aiming guide for the camera?

Amazing work! Keep the kitties purring! :aok :salute
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Yes he stated that in the description.

Yellow needs toning down, otherwise an amazing job. Well done.

Nice work.   Yellow is a bear to get right.  One of the two toughest colors in the game to deal with in my view.

You'll figure it out.

Oh I was aware of what was stated in the OP, that it needs to be toned down, but that is a damn nice yellow.  When I saw it, I jerked my head back due to the "pop", hence the "punched in the face" remark.  :)  Now I'm hoping there is a skin out there that has that much of that bright of a yellow on an Allied Aircraft.

Hey Lyric, ye think you could hunt down a skin that has that kind of yellow for what we have available here in AH?  I'm curious to what ye, or anyone else that might look, might pull up. :D

I have five Mustangs with yellow tails of varying types.    I'm still trying to find the perfect yellow.   It's a challenge.
