Gotterdamerung

Thank you to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin, which is one I also skinned on the old P-38L shape.

This P-38L named "Gotterdamerung" (which roughly translates from German as "violent downfall") was flown by the 82nd Fighter Group's 96th Fighter Squadron. The 82nd was based in Italy from late 1943 and their P-38s undertook escort, sweep and ground attack missions up until the end of the war.

Looks good but that red is too vibrant for my taste. I think it would benefit from a duller shade, maybe one that less orangey as well.

It's as Devil pointed out, red "pops" and has a bit of orange in it.

I usually tone down the red with a desaturation adjustment layer but in this case I tried to match it to this photo that Lyric1 found of the aircraft. I suspect the aircraft had been freshly painted or repainted when it was taken.

After looking at the photos again I think Devil is right and my standard USAAF red was a bit off so I have now darkened it and made it less orange.
