Yak3 is amongst the top in acceleration, climb rate, top speed, roll rate and its ability to absorb damage. Its small airframe makes it hard to land hits, especially with the stick-stirring warps exacerbated by the high roll rate and huge rudder. I won't even mention the 20mm cannons.

Sure, it doesn't carry much ammo and it's not great at high altitude, but neither of those factor in to its survivability. If there is any doubt, take note of the plane of choice for the most timid or survival-oriented players.

truely a nuisance in the game now.

It's K/D compared to the spit16 and La7 tells the true story.

Those planes carry very little ord, not enough to do any real damage, and they are 5eny, not sure why the Yak3 isn't on the same scale when it's statistically much harder to kill.

Wish most of those super late war planes were perked anyway. Would balance the fights better.

HTC perked the f4u1c for less and the F4u4 only has 50 cals ..... If it out preforms other perk planes then Perk the Yak.

Cannons? It has a single 20mm with terrible ballistics. It has very limited ammunition, very short legs (restricted fuel), poor high altitude performance. With Wep the p51b and d/p47m/109g14 and k4/190d9 all outrun it. Then the next tier down are faster above 15k.

As you stated, it's flown mostly by timid players. They're very easy to deal with, I know who you're talking about - some of the BT squad. Those guys are notorious for their stick stirring and peril sensitive internet connections. But that's not the planes fault.

a solitary yak is usually no big deal, but once they swarm its pretty much futile. Its usually the bts but they have some really good pilots and its still fun to fly against them.

Yeah, but they both can carry a couple thousand pounds of ord and rockets.  I don't know that I've ever seen anybody do it, but they can.

That said, the Yak3 should be probably 8 ENY IMO.  18 is just not right.  And for some reason, likely because they're nose mounted, on paper the guns might not be great but in game they seem to me to hit harder than you'd expect.

At least nobody is complaining about the LA-7 and Spit-16s. I remember those being the most cursed. Are the LA-7s perked now?
