Desert Lightning
« on: February 06, 2021, 04:15:56 AM »
Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin, which I also did on the old P-38G shape.

In July 1942 the 14th Fighter Group flew their P-38 Lightnings to England via Iceland. In November they were transferred to the Algeria to form part of the 12th Air Force and here performed escort missions for US bombers, as well as long range strikes on Axis, trucks, shipping and transport aircraft. This 14th FG aircraft was given a field-applied camouflage scheme of brown splotches to help it blend into the desert terrain.

Great-looking skin, Greebo.  I remember this skin from the earlier shape.  Looks even better now!

Greebo, where is the prop located on the diffuse map for the new P-38?

I don't seem to be able to find it.  Is it a separate file unto itself?

Yes, the propeller texture has its own file on the new P-38s and it is not included in the list of files that can be submitted to the admin site.

Glad to see this Skin updated for the new Lightning. As always, exemplary work Greebo! Possibly your best work! <S>
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Greebo, your skins are always next-level! I might have to change my 38G skin when this releases.  :rock
