What's a "Scenario" and how do I play one?
« on: February 10, 2021, 01:38:05 AM »
We are very glad to have folks try out Scenario who are new to Scenarios.  :aok

Scenarios are themed on historical WWII battles, with historical plane sets and objectives -- subject to it also being balanced and fun.  Forces are divided into two sides with various squadrons of aircraft.

If you fly in a Scenario, read an account of the actual battle, and think, "That's what the action was like in the Scenario!" -- that's what we are aiming for.

Scenario action is a different experience from flying in the melee arena.  If you haven't tried a Scenario, we would love for you to give it a go.  :aok

An couple examples out of a past scenarios:

Action starts about 0:30 on this one:

Action starts at 3:30 on this one:

You can fly as much or as little of a Scenario as you choose.  Typically, Scenarios have four battles that run on four consecutive Saturdays.  You can fly in one, all of them, or anything in between.

If you are going to fly in at least three of the battles, we encourage you to "register" for the event, so that we can estimate attendance.  To register, you create an account on the http://ahevents.net web site, then go here to register:

https://ahevents.net/index.php/events/scenarios/current-or-next-scenario

Registration gets you a guaranteed particular plane and side.

If you can't register, we still love for folks to show up to play.  Show up in Special Events 2 arena no later than the time given for the Scenario, and you will get to fly.  We will give you your side and plane preference if we can, but if one side is low on pilots, we need to send people to that side.

Next post:  the next Scenario.

The next Scenario runs in March -- the Battle of Leyte.

It is Ki-84's, N1K2's, and Ki-61's vs. P-38's, P-47's, F4U's, and B-24's.

We very much need more Ki-48 and N1K2 pilots.

If you can join us, registration is open here:

Scenarios are great immersive fun, and, along with FSO's the are among the best events available in AH, IMHO.    :airplane:
