Anxious in Mississippi

 Here I am, deep in boonies of Mississippi. I love the trees, and that I've got few acres of this. Last few days, especially in 'life w/covid', have been ice covering snow. I'm from Minnesota, I can drive on snow, ice, BMW very good in such....but I couldn't get out of driveway for 4 days with the ice storm.
 Got food, water good here, electricity good, internet good.
 Got Scotch. But ran out of beer
 Been feeding song-birds, and cleaning my cats drool off window nearest feeder.
 The catch, the hitch...I've been awaiting my 'new-to-me' puter.
 It's been 16 miles away all this time.
 It's 'out for delivery'...I don't even know if it will work!
 But, I was able to buy beer today!
 So...we'll see if this improvaments ma Frame Rates!

16 miles. Could be worth the hike. Some times it's good to have something worth dying for and a new puter could certainly be that. Take the cat with you in case you get hungry.

 Anyway, live and learn, already ordered one from more 'reputable' source...

If its a windows password you should be able.to install windows over it

Windows password or bios boot password?

If its windows, see about getting the boot disk online and try to do a reinstall of the windows. If it hasnt been monkied with it should have a backup somewhere.

For the bios battery I'm pretty sure there's a jumper on the board to wipe it or pop out the battery.

For the windows password there used to be a Linux utility that you could boot from cd or usb stick and blank the windows password. I don't recall the one I used but I found one like it on wiki.

 Got it fixed. Had to learn more than I really wanted to, but w/o a vid card still I'm getting solid 35fr. Vast improvement over single didget. Next need vid card.
 Thanks HiTech for keeping my fav flight sim alive till I could play it again!

I remember my time Stationed in the south in USAF and the ice storms are really brutal down there. Nobody salts the roads or plows, I guess thats why the taxes are so low, and now you have all these power outages. Were I to live in the south again I think I'd invest in a generator and keep a ready supply of food and booze on hand.

In Chicago we really dont blink at snow and ice. We've been pounded by both this winter but its just another winter and you break out the snowblower, the city and state plow and salt, and off you go. All those winters and storms make one very expert at snow travel.

I can remember the entire state of Arkansas shut down from an ice storm and they only way you could get to the missile sights was by helicopter until it melted. Not fun getting caught in that.
