I “volunteered” Oboe to update my P-51d skins “LouIV” and “Big Beautiful Doll”

Vraciu and Greebo were kind enough to send me the original bmps of my P-51d skins.

I have sent them to Oboe in the hopes that he can use the original bmp texture map and update the other layers to ah3 needs as was done for cactus and kev367th skins.

I have asked this burden of him because the skins are important to him and he has my blessing to restore or completely remake my original P-51d skins of “LouIV” and “Big Beautiful Doll”. Oboes photo realism interests are like mine and his skins are the most similar to mine in style that I have seen. I hope the players of AH will see these two skins with Oboe’s name on them after he succeeds in restoring them or decides to remake them at his discretion.

I sincerely made amends with Vraciu and his kindness and generosity in sending me the only remaining copy of the original “American Beauty” P-51d texture map I made 15 years ago means more to me than anyone here might realize. Vraciu has my blessing to redo, renovate or as has already been done remake though I must admit to hoping for a renovation with the original bmp as he did for kev367th.

Understand that the pure unadulterated rage I felt at Vraciu’s exquisite revenge was almost enough to bring me back to the game and skinning and he went from some guy I had no idea who he was that I haphazardly insulted 6 months ago to someone who became interesting to me to the point that I read a good number of those 12,000 posts and viewed all 52 of his 51 skins. He returned to the game in November 2013 right after I was removed from the game in September 2013. If I didn’t know better I would suspect he is me with the amount of times he has infuriated the local gentry on this forum. It would seem the universe hates a vacuum and Aces High was in need of a narcissistic, brilliant yet misunderstood megalomaniac after my departure. I say all of this with genuine praise.

Incredulous and unexpected as it may seem to the uninitiated and because of his actions not in spite of them... I have become a fan of Vraciu.

If all parties that give two cents about any of this circus side show are amenable to this and the powers that be give it their blessing then let it be written and let it be done with all the pomp and circumstance befitting the Benny Hill Show.

Kev's skin was relatively easy to preserve because it is all-paint.  LOU IV is your best candidate for a restoration as result.

Restorations with metal are tough.   I'll see what I can do.   I tried with Dutch Guy's MISS VELMA and DALLAS DOLL but the game engine is not kind to older metal styles intended for AH2.  I'll revisit this later to see what can be done.  Layer files would sure help but I know that's not possible with your hard drive crash.  Speaking of which I better do a backup of my own today. 

As for me personally, I'm actually quite nice.  People get cheesed off at me because I stand up for myself but beyond that I'm always surprised at how folks have self-generated animosity toward me when I've never once given them a harsh word.   It is what it is.

Well for what it’s worth I spoke from the heart here and your skins are good. My initial incensed ravings of a wounded animal betray the simple truth that in spite of myself my lucid fair reaction to your revision of “American Beauty” was and is... “That looks good”.
