DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Discord sucks for a multitude of reasons.

One of it is because it hogs resources because the devs are too lazy to make a native app. Its based on electron. But now Im just ranting about tech and programming.

I like Discord and use it, but it has an enormously ineptly designed user interface.

You must not play that much anymore. Voice  cuts out. Have to do the dot resetv only to have to alt+F4 and start again.

Once you boost the discord server comms get even better.

True, but it's a solid option right now.  I used to prefer Skype over Discord until MS bought them, now its a PITA.  Friend of mine has a lot of trouble hearing me on Skype (and I've made no changes on my end), but Discord and even Steam's VOX I come in loud and clear.  He's done just about everything you could think of, upto and including a full reinstall of his OS (he was wanting to do that anyway so...).  Nadda.  I keep telling him to use Discord or even Steam's VOX, but he's being a potato about it. heh  Steam's VOX actually surprised me when I started using it though.  I'm still messing around with that one, so I can't give a solid verdict on it just yet.  1-1, it's looking to be a bit better than Discord in that I usually have Steam up (as do those I 1-1 with) vs me having to fire up Discord for 1-1.  As for handling multiple people, can't say.

Been using AH VOX for years and years and can prolly count on one hand the number of times I've had a problem that was actually with AH. Flew AW before that and used the vox there too. That was a different animal tho as it was fairly new tech on an at the time fairly low end net connection for everyone--so it wasn't for audiophiles! More often than not if I have a problem with AH it's because either windows or more likely an Oculus update has decided to reshuffle my sound devices for my convenience. I hate that. I've gotten into the habit of checking these prior to a flying session because of this.

I've used both Discord and now SRS in IL2 that has no native VOX. How is that possible? That game has been around a long time now? But I digress. All of these voice programs are great for talking to people tuned to your TAC in my experience. SRS has added several channels on two separate radios (depending on the server) which is better but they both lack something that AH VOX has over them and that's the range channel. I guess I've been spoiled by AH being able to warn a guy right next to you he's about to get zapped! Can't do that with the others if he's not tuned to the same TAC. You just watch the poor guy die. And vice versa!

I don't think I've noticed a discernable difference in sound quality between AH, Discord and SRS. Back in the day when we were all on a dial-up conx, yeah it could absolutely be all over the place but that's largely a thing of the past now with broadband being pretty common. If you're having a regular prob with your VOX in AH I'd be looking into your sound and internet settings. I'd think there's something else going on.

In War of Rights you can hear friend/enemy depending on how far away they are. If they are ten feet away they are loud. 100 feet away and they are faint. Wish that could be that way in every game.

Onward (basically a counterstrike for VR game) is like that. It's funny sneaking around and you can hear some twelvie getting yelled at by his mum just around the corner.

There are a lot of low class individuals on discord... you have to ignore them and then the product is fine.
