Airliner Roadkill
« on: April 16, 2021, 12:56:12 AM »
Taking care of the CRJ-700 after it landed when the Captain told me that they hit a rabbit on the runway with the nose wheel during landing.  he asked me to alert the airport cops to check the runway.  pilot and Co-pilot are inspecting the nose wheel for damage.  the call for contract maintenance is made for later in the early morning.

Airport cops relay the info from the runway to the cop near me.  He starts to chuckle.  it was no rabbit.  Wile E. Coyote met his demise when an airplane fell on him.

The Roadrunner escapes again!!!

That was a humorous story but in reality, that could have buckled the nose gear and a very bad night would have ensued.  Luckily nothing bad happened and all passengers and crew were never harmed.

I did suggest that a coyote silhouette be painted on the aircraft.  Co-workers added that it should be placed on the nose wheel flap.  I was informed that the Powers To Be wouldn't go for it.

This happened last week at my airport.
