Taking the plunge
« on: May 26, 2021, 12:03:43 AM »
Well guys you talked me into it, I'm downloading AH3 now and coming back in.  Hopefully I'll get some game in tonight, but I'm sure getting the HOTAS all set up will take awhile. I hope I see some of you online.  These afternoon shifts stink!  Hitech really happy to see your baby aka project still around!

Well I guess I'm not playing.  The game is really buggy for me.  I can't get it to play full screen, also won't let me calibrate the joysticks.  I'll try again later.  Anyway know any tips or tricks?

First thing to do is to check if your computer is up to the task. AH3 requires a gaming computer with a decent video card whereas AH2 was playable with an office PC with a higher end processor.

A DxDiag report sent as an attachment would be a good start. How to do that: https://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,71591.msg3215282.html#msg3215282

If you can figure out your problem, and need help "Modernizing" your Rig....just holler! I might be able to help! How am I supposed to Test Myself, against you guys(OGs) if ya'll aint in game!!!? YES...serious!
Its just an investment into my AH fun! YES!!! I am selfish like that! :devil :x :rofl

I have the T16000.  It's not my pc.  I just bought it.  Has a I7 processor, 3060 GPU and 16gig DDR 4 3000 so that's not the issue.  I was having issues with it loading on the wrong screen and couldn't get it to switch over, then when I would clip on the clip board on the main screen (prior to going in the game) it would get really small and hard to read.

I don't remember it being this confusing before.  I'm a lot older now though.

Check your resolution Yooper. Usually, if that is the case then it should be no issue.

I'm an idiot I had the wrong monitor selected in the settings.  Ok I have it all set up, and on auto-takeoff, but when I give it throttle it just sits there.  I can't find a brake release button so I'm not sure what I"m doing wrong.

Also, does anyone have the old settings the site had for setting up dead zone and all that to take care of the bounce?  I can't seem to find any templates

No brake release so either the throttle axis needs to be assigned, maybe inverted or calibration in AH.

Yeah I had a setting wrong when I was mapping.  Anyway, does anyone remember where to look where there was a tutorial on how to set up your axis with deadzone and such?  I'm looking but can't find anything.  Thanks so much for the help guys I'll see you online tonight after work!

In the menu, go to Options, then Controls, Map Controllers, select your joystick (in this pic I'm using my rudder pedals), click the axis you want to finetune or add deadbands to, then check the Advanced checkbox. Then you get little bars for sensitity and stuff like in the image below

If no one has an answer I'll screen shot mine when i get home. Mine use to be zero all the way across but I had a long break and had to adjust mine because i was flopping and stalling. Half of it was my stick was bad and i don't think i reset to zero after getting a new one.

edit: Boy i was slow lol

I have all my axis set up and most of my buttons, went into offline mode and tested it out.  I have a few more minor tweaks to make.  I might not need the deadzone stuff, I just know back in the day there were settings you needed to make.

That might not be the case anymore.  So just asking for some guidance.  :)

The T16000M uses magnetic sensors for x and y axis. You shouldn't require much deadband at all or really tweaking stick settings much

Great guys that's what I was looking for.  Thanks everyone for your help.  If any of you are on around midnight tonight EST let me know!  Maybe we can wing up and I can see how rusty I've gotten.
