VMF-214 Blacksheep F4U-1D USS Franklin
« on: June 06, 2021, 01:30:52 PM »
I found this aircraft while searching info for the adoption of Fencer's VF-5 Corsair, it was shared with the reformed VMF-214 and new VMF-452. There is color video of it being waved off of a carrier landing on the Franklin. The Franklin was tasked with joining Task Force 58 and support the invasion of Okinawa. They started operations on March 18 but the next day the Franklin was hit by a lone D4Y Judy that managed to get through destroyer screens and fighter cover. VM-214 lost 32 and VMF-452 lost 33 pilots, some on deck preparing for the days operations. 1 Lt Ken Linder of the Blacksheep was given half credit for shooting down the Judy after it's hit.

Your mastering of the Corsair and Hellcat are really amazing. Great work!
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
