I think that idea is interesting.
A semi-structured focused gameplay with a fixed time limit. In 90 min you will have a definitive winner or loser. Nothing concentrates effort like a deadline.
* I would suggest a limited planeset, but not necessarily AvA.
* I would suggest not necessarily limiting yourself to a real-world historical map.
* I would suggest keeping it very small. Wheels up to eyes on enemy should not take more than 5 min.
* I would suggest an odd number of capturable bases. Playable sides Knights and Bishops and an un-joinable Rook country owning the middle base initially up for grabs by either side.
With an odd number of capturable bases guarantees no draws.
* I would suggest running it on a dependable evening during the week. A lot of people (especially during Summer) have stuff filling their weekends. A 60-90 min slot during the week could be scheduled in and doesn't interfere with fishing trips.

Something with some of the structure and teamwork of a Scenario, but smaller scale and shorter duration that doesn't require you to commit a whole month of weekends, and isn't inflexiblly tied to a historical event (Scenarios already do an excellent job filling that need). The map should be designed to maximize gameplay, not historical fidelity.
If something like could be reliably offered during the week I'd be tempted to reopen an account. I could probably find 90 free minutes once a week, but I don't want to waste that wandering aimlessly in the MA looking for two good fights that I had to fly 20 minutes to where I get killed instantly because I suck as a fighter pilot.
