For the lack of ammunition, I would suggest in purchasing reloading equipment and components.
A press, dies for each caliber you need or want, powder, primers, brass and bullets.
Oh, and you might also considere lead, melting pot and bullet molds.

Powder kept dry is good for long, long times.  Same with primers and brass.  I started doing that back in the late 80's.  At that time, a typical 38 special cost about 10 cents a round if I recall.  the cost of the components for that round were under 5 cents.  To be more sure, I'd have to find the HD that has all those old spread sheets on it.

Problem with starting reloading now is that the ammunition manufacturers are using all the components they can make in order to make ammunition. IF you had the equipment already and a supply of components, primers, powder cases and bullets then yes you are not all that hindered by the shortages...... Until you have to restock, then the component shortages make the ammo shortage look like a minor inconvenience. Components are much more scarce than the actual ammo.

Right now ammo seems to be catching up. I am seeing a LOT of ads from the suppliers I have used indicating that there are cases of 9mm available. Almost all of it is russian and south american. The SA ammo has a decent rep, far better than tula. There are also ads for 5.56 including Winchester US ammo showing up now.

Being nasty? How? You and others have replied to my posts a couple of times recently. Each time you do EXACTLY what I have done. So, how are you doing anything right? You're not, you are as much a part of the problem as I may be. Don't like my comments? Then keep yours to yourself and there is no problem to discuss. Otherwise you're as guilty as I may ever be.
