This is an adoption of Treize's original skin. It does not depict the exact plane as I could not find any reference to the scheme he made, so I found the most similar one to it.
Special thanks to Lyric for his assistance in acquiring reference material on the Romanian Air Force
This 109G-2 (In reality a G-4) was operated by Escadrila 58, Grupul 7 Vanatoare of the Royal Romanian Air Force and flown by squadron commander Capt. Av. Dan Scurtu. Escadrila 58 began operation of 109G-4's in April 1943 after transitioning from 109E's. They fought the Soviet air force over southern Ukraine during the fighting retreats of the Axis after their defeats at Stalingrad and Kursk. This 109 wears markings and camouflage typical of the first batch of 109G's used by Romania, dark green camouflage covers the upper fuselage and wings with light blue gray on the undersides. It is assumed that these were Romanian equivalents of German RLM 71 or 74 over RLM 76. In keeping with the original skin, I elected to use RLM 71 olive green as 74 is too gray. Markings are the "St. Michael's Cross" insignia of Royal Romania and yellow tail band, lower wing tips and lower cowling consistent with Axis aircraft operating over the Soviet Union. The rudder is painted with the colors of the Romanian flag.
