This is the Typhoon of Wing Commander Frank George Grant, who lead the RCAF's 143 Wing from February 1943 until the end of the war. In common with other Wing Commanders his aircraft displayed the pilot's initials rather than a squadron code and it also carried a Wing Commander's pennant below the cockpit. On Christmas Day 1944 damage from AA guns meant the aircraft had to be sent to a servicing unit at Eindhoven airfield for repair. It was destroyed here on New Year's Day when Luftwaffe fighters straffed the airfield during Operation Bodenplatte.
