Wondering what kind of chemical they add to the milk to add the taste of root beer. Sarsaparilla was made from extracts of the Sarsaparilla vine, and Root Beer was made from the root of the sassafras tree. Chemicals are used to simulate the root beer taste, because raising and harvesting Sassafras roots is labor intensive and would drive up the cost of a bottle of pop to something like 12 Dollars a bottle.
