This is an adoption of Larry's original skin.
Bf 109G-6 of Stabstaffel Jg 54 and flown by the Geschwader Kommodore, Hubertus von Bonin in July 1943.
Larry's skin was based on very old reference which has been proven inaccurate. This aircraft was not painted overall in greens, but instead had heavy mottling in RLM 70 painted only on the fuselage sides, otherwise it retained the factory camouflage grays. Many references refer to it being flown by the longtime Kommodore, Hannes Trautloft, but he was promoted to the position of Fighter Inspector East under Adolf Galland before the first G-6's arrived in Russia. Therefore this aircraft was flown by Trautloft's replacement. The markings feature typical yellow IFF markings used by Jg 54 in 1943. The green heart emblem was applied under the canopy. A white triple chevron and horizontal bars fore and aft of the fuselage cross indicate it was the Kommodore's personal aircraft.
