How is the ram temp?

I haven't monitored RAM, but it's a relatively new setup with Cooler Master H500 case (mesh high-flow, two 200 mm fans and one 120 mm fan), Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite motherboard, and 32 GB of name-brand RAM (although I forget the brand).  Also, the Noctua D15 CPU cooler (two 140 mm fans) is air cooled (not liquid) and moves a large volume of air near the CPU and so over the nearby sticks of RAM as well.  Nothing is overclocked.

When I run AH, the max my CPU and GPU get to is about 45-50 C.

Just wondering what your cpu/GPU is? I've been having stutters ever since I moved to the ryzen 5600x. A bios update helped a lot but it still happens.

I've got a Ryzen 3950x, and a GTX 1060 from my previous setup.

When I saw you had an x570 motherboard made me think you might have the same thing I did, but as far as I know that was only with third gen ryzen (5000 series) with x570 motherboards.

I think the other posts are right, dx9 and restarting your recording after every mission might do the trick.

OK, solution so far.

I replicated the problem today (dx11, film on, fly for more than a couple hours).  (Temperatures were fine.)

Turning film off did not solve the problem.

Alt-tabbing out of the software and going back in did not solve the problem.

Exiting arena and going back in DID solve the problem.  My suspicion is that the game exists full-screen mode and clears various caches, buffers, etc.

Next, I will try running dx9 and see if the problem still appears.

Holdup.  Brooke - what are you running for sound on your computer?

Thanks, and related story that might solve a mystery.

Last Saturday, I was flying in the "Cherkassy Pocket" scenario when the periodic freezing started:  a screen hang for 1-2 seconds every 6-8 seconds.  It makes it difficult to fight and highly dangerous to maneuver near the ground.

During this, I was flying CAP over a vbase when two Tu-2's came screaming in right on the deck.  I dove on one and did a firing pass, but not enough hits to destroy it.  I kept having problems setting up other passes.  A lot of cursing strategically deployed on my part did not fix the hangs, unfortunately.  I was thinking, "Man, the guy flying this Tu-2 must be wondering what in the hell I'm doing."

Turns out it was Spikes.  :aok

He was definmitely wondering what you were doing. He kept saying, "This 190 isn't attacking me. It is so weird."

My usual Realtek sound drivers with my headphones and mic plugged into my motherboard's audio and mic jacks.

Damn, I thought it was because you were scared to attack me. :(

I had freezes in the TA yesterday in VR. Not my PC hardware. I suspect Windows but I haven't compared Steam VR to Oculus yet.

OK, had more freezing in Saturday's scenario.  Even after exiting arena and coming back in with dx11.

I switched to dx9 and did not have a problem thereafter.

Many thanks to all who gave me suggestions on this.  :aok
