Everyone should be auto assigned to a country to balance the sides with players required to opt out if they want to be assigned only to one country..the opposite it is now
Never understood the drive to win a map over better overall gameplay...little egos needing pampering is my guess

No, that would kill squads much like the arena split did originally.
The EW failed because of the huge map. Same with the mid war. The real reason for unbalanced teams is the maps. With large maps, it takes too long to get to a fight to die. It deters players who want to defend. It keeps the other sides #s low because it's hard to coordinate people to defend a field when it takes 8-9 minutes to get there to defend, only to die quickly to a gang. No one has the patience to fly that far for it. Why is it so hard to understand?
