He 111H-5 operated by Sturzkampfgeschwader 3's HQ (Stab) flight. Despite the fact that all three Gruppen of StG 3 exclusively flew Stukas, the command staff saw reason to acquire an He 111 (also Bf 110's and a Do 17) in 1942. Stab/StG 3's He 111 was used between March and July 1942. Sometime in July, it was damaged at StG 3's base at Fuka, Egypt and abandoned. It was photographed in late 1942 after the airfield was liberated by British ground forces.

I never noticed the waist guns on an He 111 until now.

It's even better when someone making a run on your 111 doesn't either.  :t

Not that we can do it in game the Dorsal turret could be turned to face forward to fire as well.
