Been some time since my last 'look-at-me' post (7 years I think), and also quite some time since I posted something with a positive vibe, so here's another milestone of mine:
I Just shot down my 400th B29 in the main arena(s) of Aces High. My favourite prey in AH of all time: Rare, fast, resilient, incredibly well armed and usually flown at very high altitudes by pilots who are no beginners either. I still remember the two only times I got the "4 B-29s in one sortie" achievements (both times on Ozkansas, one raid was led by the Black-Knights (Germany) and the other by Earl a few years later), just because it's so difficult and exciting to get.
And yes, it took me a damn long time to get there. With the B-29 being introduced in February 2011, I reached 100 kills in February 13, 250 kills in April 14 and 300 only 7 months later. So it took me over 7 more years just to collect the next 50 scalps. But then, B-29 missions are basically a thing of the past, and I am not longer a regular since November 2015. I would have liked to wait until #500 with this shameless self-promotion, but I very much believe this day will never come.
Not included in these numbers: The countless times the B-29 broke through my defense and smashed their target anyway, or I only caught up with them after the drop, or I was gliding home shot up badly (I'm looking at you, Ta-152 radiator!
).
p.s.: I miss the huge, escorted long-range bombing missions which once were a thing in Aces High
