I'm still VR curious, but I still use trackIR.

Have anyone used HP Reverb G2 in AH or elsewhere?

Tried it when it first came out...

Nice sweetspot in the middle but the headset didn't have the depth the vive pro has and my mr magoo glasses didn't fit..

I returned it

Quest 2 came yesterday so I had a chance to toy with it in both AH and MSFS for a little while. My god it's surreal. Words cannot even describe.

I use the Reverb G2 and I love it. I don't wear glasses so that makes a difference. Really clear image, I can read gauges no problem and no screen door effect. Did have some issues early on with the hardware, their original cable was easy to break internally which caused tracking issues and random blackouts. But they replaced it with a redesigned version for free and I haven't had an issue since. Downsides, it is essentially 4k resolution so it needs a very high end system to run it and it's more expensive than a quest 2, which isn't as clear an image but also doesn't need a monster pc.

One more thing, the controller tracking with the G2 isn't as good as other headsets. But I use it exclusively with stick/throttle for flying games, so it's a non-issue for me.

I answered you pm!

:)

I spoke in game last night about VR and other people mentioned the same thing regarding using the real stick, rudders, etc. The first thing I pictured is that using the Oculus controls would get tiring.
That and no "feed back". I could do it...but Standard Stick, Throttle and Rudder setups=way better IMO

I am getting to like the Oculus Quest2 more and more.  Still having issues with Voice Attack recognizing commands, but all in all, since I took time
to get used to the game and got the feel of the controls back, yeah, it's a game changer in many ways.

I wanted the tactile feedback I get with my regular game controllers, just couldn't grasp how I would ever use the Q2 little controllers.  My luck I would try to slam the stick over to one side and hit my wife, or her daughter, or one of the dogs or cats............lol.

All I can say is, try it, you may like it, you may not.  Like everything else, your mileage may vary, and the only opinion that really matters there is YOURS.

It's all about having fun.  Seeing 200 the past few days/nights, I think some players have forgotten that.

Check out the VR forum for great info

Vive pro with sony lenses mod since 2018

It changes the game for the better in all ways IMO

Issue is prices right now on decent video cards as they are criminally high

If you can't afford vr I suggest trackir for the next closest thing

Thats exactly my plan.  I have a few other 'toys' I want to buy and some construction I want done on my place then new dedicated rig, ch gear, and an oculous, a couple weeks flying offline to get everything tweaked and set just right, then a few weeks in the TA, then hook up and start putting my Friday nights on hold so I can get into the scenarios again.  Can't wait man.

I had the Oculus CR1 years ago and liked it though the res was relatively low. Bought a Quest 2 and don't like it much, sits on the shelf. It has a smaller "sweet spot" and with glasses moving the screen further from my eyes it's worse. Maybe if I wore contacts. Brother loves his Reverb 2.

Get prescription lenses for your quest, it's much more comfortable for any headset. I use these guys: https://widmovr.com/

I have an extreme scrip with astigmatism too. I used VROpticians for mine as, at the time, they were the only ones that could accommodate my scrip. Been using the lenses with my RiftS for a few years now and they're fine.

I agree with Rocco's take on the HP G2.  What I don't like about the G2 is the clunky software, at least as compared with my experience with the Oculus Rift CV1.  My other dislike with the G2, is whenever I take the headset off, it seems like I need to get out of the game and start over.  With the CV-1 I could take the headset on and off and the game would easily switch to my monitor or back to the headset.
