So the BKs are no more...
« on: March 15, 2022, 03:34:47 PM »
Missed the drama that unfolded.  Great times with Lazs and Apache. We  flew every night.

So I'm going to resurrect my first squad from WB from 98.  Mury was the CO and we did the same thing over there. We fought, laughed and had a great time.  Did the convention in 2001 and met a half dozen targets. A couple hundred geeks attended.

So I am a squad of one.  For the fights.

I miss the BKs. Was a great squad to fight with and against. Reminds me of some of my best AH memories. Wish we could have that squad back, along with others like it.

I'm in.  I flew with Mury, Cuff, Kiwi, Elvene, Chumley, Beerbe (beer belly) and lord knows how many.  Tell me when to be in the arena for the invite.

Oh they are?

I thought I’ve seen BK in front of a few names over the last year.

I’m not confusing them with BTs, pretty sure I’ve seen BK…
They're casting their bait over there, see?

Back in the day, in the AvA, we had a discussion over how the Ki84 v Spit 8 would turn out.  We ran the matchup over one week.  The BKs flew one plane for half the week while the AvA regulars flew the other, then we reversed.  Some of the best fights ever, but beyond that it was a fine study of the aircraft match.  The Frank was the clear winner (convincingly clear), regardless of who flew it, much to the distress of the Spitfire Front.

The BK guys were full of themselves, but with justification.  Would be good to have them all back.

Good for you, NoPoop, trying to resurrect the group.

I don't recall any Blue Knights that ever had a BK in their name, even in the squads prime.

I must say this is a curious conclusion and not in accord with my experience at all. I haven't flown the Spitfire Mark VIII very much, but I'll wager there aren't so many players who can match my hours in AH's Ki-84 and a good percentage of those hours were 1-on-1 with Spates and Spixteens. I would suggest the Spit8 only has three slight disdvantages in this matchup and two of those are quite hard to force. If you meet a Spate-stick who really knows what they're doing the Ki-84-driver must be at 120% reactor-setting to survive. You don't have to take my word for it; just compare the EM diagrams.

Perhaps the players are too large of a variable to draw such a belief. What subjective experiences lead to this assertion? Any video or other evidence to substantiate this conclusion?

Morpheus shows up in the BK squad forum looking for his mates of old. Maybe send him a PM?

I have quite a bit of Ki84 time as well and generally agree with your conclusion. 1 vs 1 spit 8 holds advantage. However in group fight I'd say frank would be superior. Easier to shoot, keep it fast, fly it like a 190a4 and you'll decimate spitfires.  Same thing as pure spit 9 vs 190a5 fight. One on one - 190 is dead everytime. Group fight - 190s will win most times.

I know you we have fought. You are a gentleman  :salute

Yes I daresay that might explain it. I have / had gone balls-deep into the 1-on-1. Since Bruv119 has left, Badboy remains the highest quality Spit8 pilot in game according to my last intel.

It's been years, so I really don't remember the details, only the result.  Both planes climb well, both recover energy quickly.  My lingering sense is that the Frank's low-speed flap use gave it an up on the Spit 8.
