Why no dirigibles?
« on: April 23, 2022, 08:59:00 PM »
AH is a great game but it needs to set itself apart from the market mainstays.

The title of this thread may provide just such an advantage - if done right. And I don't mean just static targets. I want to fly a damned airship.

Thank me later.

Are you talking in the MA or in the WWI arena?  In the old Warbirds, there were dirigibles in the Dawn of Aces arena.  Some of the fun sorties in that arena were using dirigibles to bomb fields, and IIRC, there were several gunner positions on the dirigibles, too.  Attacking one wasn't really a cakewalk.
Another fun sortie was to function as an artillery spotter.

I'm not sure adding dirigibles would be as much of a game changer as adding ground vehicles, but it's not my game.  I just play it.

Rule #2 It's all small stuff.
Rule #3 What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.  Except redheads, they just kill you.

German Zeppelins of WWI were originally used for scouting the enemy front lines. This proved to be hazardous at anything but high altitude. Eventually they were used to bomb large cities in France and England. In game I can't picture much fun for players to pilot them. I could see some fun in downing them but even then downing AI driven Zeps could get old fast, methinks. I'm with Decoy on this. WWI tanks would be a better addition. Maybe WWI fixed wing bombers ( if major targets were added to maps).
