Zack are you familiar with Oxenhope or Keighley?  I spent a short time there in summer of 2007 I think it was, working on some old wind turbines.  I think they were located at Ovenden Moor, IIRC.

I remember meeting a heavy set woman who must've been a sheep farmer, who was interested to know what we called 'sheep'.  She told me they called them 'hogs' - which, in the U.S., is the term for a pig or swine.   I'd hesitate to call her a peasant, but it did look to me like she made her living very close to the earth.

They also informed me that this was the area were the Bronte sisters were raised.

In all, I remember most the broad, sweeping grassy hills, tucked into the bottom crooks of these hills were small lakes.   And though it was summer it was much cooler than what I was used to.

Pinehurst, Georgia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinehurst,_Georgia

Not sure about the purpose of this post, unless it's to point out that I live in a rural area where the people are generally poor and poorly educated.  I will point out that the demographics come from the 2000 census, so they're 22 years out of date.  Currently we have 455 residents inside the city limits.  I live, with my family, some eight miles out of town, so we're not part of the elite.

Pinehurst has three major industries, the cotton gin, the peanut mill, and the private school.  In addition, the Dooly County Justice Center, which houses the courthouse annex, the Sheriff's Office, and the Detention Center, is located in Pinehurst, about halfway between the cotton gin and the potatohouse, which is conveniently located across from the truck stop.

It's also located right on I-75, so if you're going down to Florida, you can stop in, tank up, get a quick massage with a happy ending, spend the night in the cleanest jail in Georgia, and meet some really interesting people, some of whom can even read and write.

As for the 57 Diner, that's in Unadilla, my hometown.  It's also the hometown for David Ragan, the NASCAR driver (he's really nice, btw) and the current mayor is Myron Mixon of BBQ Pittmasters fame.

Have a nice day.

Not sure why the word w-h-o-r-ehouse got changed to potatohouse, but it did.  Don't ask me why.

Personally, I'm fascinated and attracted to small town America. Your little oasis looks very nice. And I don't stereotype. I'm from a small town (though not nearly as small) myself. :)

Lots of unnecessary words get changed to try to keep the forum halfway civil here so we can interact like adults.

Agreed. :)
