Herding cats
« on: May 25, 2022, 06:53:05 PM »
I've only been flying AH since October 21, but here we go...

I hear some complaints about how the Knights just won't cooperate with one another and capture fields the way other teams do.  'Knights just go and randomly bomb some target and don't care how that affects the strategy of the team.'

Did I miss something?  Is there a wrong way to enjoy this game?  I'm still new and building my skills, but if I ever get a B29 off the ground and actually bomb a hostile target, you'll know it because you'll hear me holler.

In the meantime, when someone asks me 'Hey, decoy, can you spot for us?' or 'Can you take out the ack at field xx?'  I say one of two things.  The first is 'I'm on something else right now.'  The second is, 'Sure, I can try.'

Sometimes I see a field flashing, indicating an enemy in the vicinity, and a gv icon, indicating a friendly trying to intercept, and I just up a P38 to try and bomb that rascal or I launch a storch to spot for them.  But that's just me trying to be helpful.  There isn't any 'you have to do xy&z' about it.  And if there isn't anything spiffy going on, I may launch a bomber to target the enemy's strats or just a random field.  As I said, I'm still building my skills.  Or... if the Knights' strats need help, I may run supplies to them, or to whichever field needs it the most, or gv supplies to friendlies who look like their outnumbered.

But I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.  I'm just living the dream.

Okay.  I feel better. That is all.  Carry on.

You're fine. There will always be players in any game community that don't like the way others play - whether on their own side or not.  :)

I've noticed that there is a lack of players that enjoy aerial combat. Same small group of pilots that fight. Thank god for you fighters

Going on three months in and have yet to see a real furball. 10 plus on each side setting your hair on fire fight. More GV'n then anything else it seems.

We all play the game because it interests us, often for different reasons. I like to be helpful. You do what you enjoy and ignore the chatter...but try not to step on what someone else is doing.

Glad you're aboard. <S>

I can't remember the name of it but at one point there was a room that was just three bases very close to each other and only fighters enabled.  Now THAT was fun.  Oh I got killed a LOT but it was like someone shook up three wasp nests that hated each other.

Sounds like the MNM concept in the AvA.  If you enjoyed that, come try Monday Night Madness.  Never a lack of fun.

That describes quite a few that attend.

Waiting in the fog for someone to not be looking.

There’s an easy solution to the lack of BFM skills.

It’s pretty common for someone to not be looking even without fog.
