Thank you to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin. Captured vehicles and aircraft are not normally allowed as subjects for skins in AH. Skuzzy seems to have made an exception for the T-34 however, as there are a couple of German T-34 skins already in the game. Most likely this was because of the extensive use the German Army made of these tanks.
This T-34/85 was captured by the 25th Panzer Division in Germany during 1945 and turned against its former owners. German red brown and dark yellow camouflage was applied over the Soviet factory green paint and prominent Balkankreuze markings used to prevent friendly fire incidents.
The Wehrmacht made extensive use of captured equipment, far more than any other army. Captured tanks were known as "beutepanzers" and as many as 600 captured T-34s may have been used as such during the war, far more than any other tank. The exact number is difficult to pin down as front line units tended to keep them out of their official records in case they were forced to give their tanks up. They were often used in isolation as tank destroyers since their crew layout and vision issues made it awkward to coordinate T-34s effectively in company with German tanks. Some served behind the lines with the notorious anti-partisan "police" units and a fair number were employed as recovery tanks, often minus their turrets. The vast majority of these tanks were the 76 mm gun variants, by the time the T-34/85 appeared in numbers the German Army was in full retreat and the chance of recovering Soviet tanks was a much rarer event.
