I like that song. I really liked it when I came out. I think I was 18 or something like that.

This was 1982. I was 9 years old. The Fixx was a great sounding band.

I usually have a pretty good memory for the year of song came out, especially during my younger days. That was an exciting time for music.

So I was born in 1964 and that would have made me 18 at the time.

That was very touching. Garth Brooks is an incredible talent and an even better person.

So after watching this - I see it was filmed in 2014, I wanted to find out what happened to that woman. Check it out.

I had the honor of attending one of his birthday parties when I was in the music biz.  Seriously great guy.

unfortunately music has been ruined for me for the second time in my life.  First time was having to leave the industry but I had a kid to raise as a single dad and me being on the road or out till 4 am every day wasn't exactly what I call the best life for a child.  Second time was my most recent ex.  She got me back into music after around 30 years but there are so many songs that we sang together and the fact that every good memory I have about her is tainted it's back to talk radio for me for a while.

My ex-wife took every opportunity to denigrate and criticize my efforts to make any success out of my musical talent while at the same time we both were supporting our son as he thoroughly enjoyed playing music in his middle school/high school band.

Our band was really starting to make gains in performing original music - we opened for some good ones, like Great White, Tesla, Robin Trower (think Bridge of Sighs), Faster P****cat (can't believe the forum filter tags that one), etc..
But had to give it up as it wasn't the best thing being away from my sons, and balancing other aspects of life in general. Just too much on the plate to continue.

That's great to hear that there's other musicians here!
I used to be in a band in the late '80s and we weren't bad. That was in phoenix.
Now I record my own music in my home studio. That's my favorite thing to do when I have time.
I enjoy mixing as well

That's pretty cool that you got to go to that

Too bad about your memories being tainted.

Life gets in the way. For me, I just don't have the time or energy anymore. There's a pretty small window or period or time in most people's lives when they can really pursue something like a music career. Then life takes us where it will take us I guess.
