Yak Operations IRL- For the Yak Drivers
« on: July 11, 2022, 07:23:28 AM »
Just thought I'd share for the Yak drivers. We have a Yak-52 trainer at the hangar I work at, and I got to help with engine runs on it, checking for leaks and other possible issues.
The 52 is the descendant to the Yak-3 and family, but it still has 360 HP! It's also interesting when I get up close to work on it, it's covered in raised rivets and it's built very lightweight (look how skinny the gear is!), which is partially why it was so successful in the bigger Yakovlev fighters!
I hate Yaks and their drivers with a burning passion, but it's still cool hardware!

I had fun playing in the propwash as I took photos from behind, I could actually do the Michael Jackson lean into the propwash haha.
