So, this is bragging on my part, but nobody else will toot my horn, so I have to.
I published my first book in July of 2012. It took it a year to break even, and trust me when I say that it's rare indeed for a first novel to actually make money, especially an indie author like me.
This past week I sold the 5000th copy of one of my books. That's a 500/year average, and trust me when I say I didn't sell 500 copies of my first book. So I'm really pleased with myself. And if, someday, I'm a big time writer and they're making movies out of my books, y'all can all say, "Hey, I used to play AH with him. He's a (great guy)(huge jerk). Just insert the one think is most appropriate.
