Prices for new and used on this web page. https://bestoftrucks.com/2022-peterbilt-389-price/It would appear the Tesla semi might be near the price range of a Peterbuilt that canPerform the same duty. Scotty would know more about this subject. He can explain fuel costs, maintence costsAnd every fee associated with diesel semis.
Would be interesting to know the full cost of operating both with no government assistance (our money) . Actual cost paying for everything.... no handouts.
That would of course need to include the $20 billion or so in tax subsidies we give the petroleum industry each year.
Projected to take 30 to 50 minutes to charge to 90 per cent. The charger will have four times the Kwatts of Tesla Superchargers.
Hah, for real. Plenty of industries get subsidies...but we'll use EV because it fits the narrative!
I have no problem with that. I said ALL COST. Of course we will include subsidies for electrical and power generation. The number one subsidized item by dollar amount.... that would be $48 billion.
Where I live and using the price of diesel and the price of a kW/h, the "fuel" cost of the electric truck should be about 1/3 of the diesel truck. I will add that electricity is far cheaper in other areas of the country. BUT,It's not uncommon for quality built and well maintained diesel trucks to do as much as 750,000 miles in their service life...some even more. The jury is out on the long term cost of maintenance on electric motors and lithium-ion batteries. Also can the generation grid in all areas handle the load of all this new demand - that remains to be seen.
And you can rebuild the engine when the time is appropriate... can you rebuild that battery pack?
Battery pack is the fuel, so the owner of the diesel truck will drill his own well and then refine the oil?
