Sign in to put a VR headset on and use it?  Nope.

I have to confess that I don't understand the Facebook thing.  While I have a Facebook account, I believe my last post there was some years ago.  Certainly I never told the Oculus people about it.  And yet, my Rift S continues to function as it always has.  Is it just that I'm not getting updates?

You've always needed an oculus sign in to use their headsets. You've never needed a facebook account. And Oculus have just started transitioning to meta accounts.

True, for the Oculus software.  But, having to sign into fb/meta is a non player, and completely unnecessary.

There is and will not be a requirement to sign into FB (as I understand it). Oculus logins need to migrate to Meta because Oculus doesn't exist anymore (it's been rebranded to Meta). A meta login is not a facebook login.

tbh I hate fb as much as anyone. But meta have been throwing a toejamload of money at vr research and been selling hardware like the Q2 at very reasonable prices. And the new Quest Pro (due to be formally announced in Oct) looks pretty insane. I think the meta hate is a bit unjustified tbh.

Puma, the quick way, on your taskbar you'll see a speaker icon.
Left click it to see your current speaker/mic setting.
If your G2 is plugged in ...
See the little ^ icon and click it to scroll to the Speakers (3- Realtek USB 2.0 Audio) and make sure the volume slider is set to maximum. You can then use AH etc. volume controls to adjust volume.

The long ways is to go into Windows setting, sound, and essentially do the same thing.

Oh, and the correct Realtek device won't show unless the G2 is operating.

Not experience the headaches you are right now by using Quest 2

I'll take that all day long. Way too old for stressing over PC issues.

Sign in to use a simple tool?  A matter of choice.

Headaches and stress are all relative.  There are far worse issues to give up on.  This one is a challenge, nothing more.  Freedom of choice is what counts.  Nothing to do with hate.  So, Mark and company are no longer employed by me.  My choice, not his.

As I’m getting more up to speed and comfortable with the G2, there are a couple of lingering issues (not stressors).

In the previous VR headset and non VR game play, there’s a button programmed to re-center the view.  Now in VR, that button doesn’t re-center but, still does in non VR.  Any idea why and how to resolve it?

When transmitting on channel or range, my voice sounds muffled in VR.  It did not in the previous headset.  In non VR play, my voice playback is clear as it alway was.  I’ve checked the AH sound settings and confirmed the correct items are selected.  Reception on channel and range is as it always has been.  Surely, it’s a simple fix but, what is it?

Thanks!  :salute

For the audio, make sure the mic selected is your vr mic. I've had it switch on me and go to my regular headset mic in game.

You might also need to turn up the mic gain in the game settings. I had to do that, turn off auto and turn it almost all the way up.

Puma, FYI logging on for FSO the other night I had the same thing happen to me that was happening to you. I had WMR up and running, started AH but it only started on the monitor, not the headset. And it was starting up regular steam! Turned out there was a steam update. I updated everything, closed back out of steam, started AH again and it started in the headset with steam for WMR in the background like it should. So look out for that if it happens again. Think that was the first time that's happened to me since I've had the G2.

I've had both WMR based and the Oculus Quest.   Quest seemed a little more bullet proof and more straightforward software wise.

All the trouble was worth the jaw-dropping VR experience though.
