Big story last week about a community in CO who had control of their thermostats taken away from them, and it was then set at 78 degrees. They had signed an agreement with their local power company, never thinking THAT would happen. Lol, couldn't happen at my house, we have no ac, and heat with a wood stove

I may have said this before, but the most perfect scenario is to have a big enough solar array to charge an EV during the course of a day, and have 2 electric cars, one of them always on the charger

Or just have a hybrid.

Totally pwned big brother there, but another option is AC with analogue thermostats.

Or just have a hybrid.

Hybrids will be the next target once gas and diesel are demonized sufficiently

yes they have that here.  you sign the agreement and in return the electric company either gives you credit or pays you. it's a good thing you get credit whether it gets used or not.  but you aren't forced to do it

they took the money and some started whining.

I know that in California they were warning us once again not to charge our electric vehicles. Well not that I have one but meaning in the state.

If they don't fix this power grid I don't see how we're going to support millions of more electric vehicles.

don't forget they also said dishwashers, dryers, washing machines, and set thermostat at 78.

also not water the lawns as we are having a drought.  conserve as much water as you can.

Endless baked beans with mini windmills will be provided to generate your ev power as you convert your excessive natural gas into wind power..

lol, not really my intent there --we live in a 70-year-old stone farmhouse that's 3,000 feet up, admittedly it would be nice to have air conditioning and late July and early August. Heating the place is a far bigger chore

not entirely accurate, they're asking people to not use major appliances between 4 and 9. and set ac to 78.

did you know around here between 4 and 9 they charge the most for electricity?

it seems like not trying to control anything, doesn't it.

did you know in north Carolina they won't sell beer before noon on Sundays.  and liquor can only be bought from the state?  now that's control.

They actually specified to not charge electric cars in the evening. I guess you're supposed to charge them during the day when you're driving them.

If you could catch that methane gas and store it you could burn it in your car. Just saying...
