There will certainly be a market for EVs no doubt. But the US leaders shouldn't be using fascist incentives and techniques to kill gas and diesel cars to force people into EVs. I love the sound of engines and smell of gas especially in racing. I think companies like Dodge are making a huge mistake. These companies trying to compete with Tesla will do so so, but their styling and look of the cars have always been horrible IMO and will be their biggest winner or loser with regards to sales.

Also, I don't think EVs are any better in the grand scheme for the environment... I think its simply a different way to travel and if that's what people want to do then so be it. Just don't try to maliciously take away my gas cars. That's all I ask.

The internal combustion engine made EVs obsolete like 100 years ago.    Only virtue signaling cretins drive EVs.

Tlaib met with banking CEOs and asked them to help bring an end to the petroleum industry (ironically, that would also end EVs). The Chase CEO then said that would place America on the road to the hell of all hells. So, now she (Tlaib) wants millennials to withdraw their money from Chase Banks.

EVs will not be practical for my needs until the newer battery technology is commonly available. Conventional lithium-Ion technology is, in truth, on the cusp of obsolescence. Solid State Ceramic electrolyte battery technology is not far from being mainstream. Much greater capacity for a given volume, lighter weight and faster charging... That said, we have 750 Watt e-bikes that can go 40 miles on a electric only. Well over 50 miles with pedal assist. Inasmuch as I have a 30 mile butt... This is sufficient. Great for buzzing around town, parks and preserves along A1A here on the Florida coast.

Obtaining the necessary minerals to produce a single 1,000 lb EV battery involves mining, moving and processing 500,000 lbs of raw materials.

But driving an electric car is the new thing for going green. The fossil fuels used to process, mine, and transport the raw materials used to build an electric car and its batteries, and used to charge the batteries are not added to the equation because it doesnt fit the narrative, and not to be spoken about

The destruction to the environment is not added either. When it is, you have to own the electric vehicle 30 to 40 years to break even with the pollution a fossil fuel vehicle makes. Only at that time do you start actually being cleaner. EVs start out making much more polution.

Is that all added into the gas guzzlers as well?

that claim has been debunked so many times, might as well go to Dallas Airport and wait for junior to come back.

I've read that Mitsubishi is working on a portable, truck-sizes nuclear reactor that can be used for residential homes. Now that would be great!
I could get land way off grid and just make sure it had water, plop down a nuclear generator and never have to worry about power again.

Charge the electric cars all day long. Run power to anything.

Something will come along that revolutionizes power generation.

not to rain on your parade but reactors are coming online by the time you are 80.  not including where the heck you gonna find a land with water that doesn't give you ice 6months out of the year or even simple stuff like food.

and those reactors aren't gone be cheap.  but it's cool to dream

No offense, semp, but I take anything you say with a grain of salt.

There's plenty of land that has water or that you can drill well in order to get water. Power is the thing that you won't find out in the boondocks..

But even if it's not nuclear, I could build a big solar generating system with battery storage.
