Recorded ship vids crashes film viewer
« on: April 26, 2023, 08:33:12 AM »
Was attempting to edit videos I took on ships, but when I open them in film viewer it crashes.

Having not been around for a while I’m not aware of issues or work arounds.

Anyone have any answers or work-arounds for this?

Does it just insta-crash? I know there were some people that had issues with the ship gun sound crashing the game. I never had that problem myself.

I had that error when I loaded a scenario film, but it gave me an error message. Got that terrain and fixed that. This seems to be a crash.

Pretty sure I fixed it, prolly by accident.

Windows 11 updates kept failing. I ran Update Troubleshooter and it fixed a problem so it would update again. My guess, could have been a corrupt windows file. I'm not finding any correlation, but whateva. I guess if I get curious enough I could go through the logs and find the file issue. Too busy.

Any ship film I made after the fix works, any ship film I made before the fix doesn't.

Still crashes if I use guns. The viewer needs some tweaks.

Can you run the game ok using the guns? I'm telling ya I'm pretty sure I remember there were some that had this problem when they fired the guns. Game would crash as soon as they fire. Try that and see if you're just one of the lucky ones!

Works fine in game. So far, it SEEMS to be guns in film viewer.  It doesn’t always crash now, but just loads a blue screen. Not using guns if I make any adjustments to a different time of the film viewer it will crash. PT boats seem to work ok so far

Yeah IIRC the bug only happened to some people and only with the big ship guns, not the 5" or others. It didn't happen to me. There might have been a solution but it fell off my radar as I wasn't affected by it. Try a forum search?
