« on: April 29, 2023, 02:26:49 PM »
Gave the P47 and the P38 to my grandson. Had them all hung from the ceiling. I still have two.

Checked ebay and people are selling them for $250  :x

Anyone collected these back in the day ?

I had a few of them when I was younger. I had the Razorback P-47. The Corsair, the North African P-40, and the P-51 "Shark" There is a shop in Beavercreek, Ohio that sells some of them still.

I have a some of the Ultimate soldier, and a few of the BBi. I have several Spitfires, P-38's, P-40's, P-47's (both razorback, and bubble top), P-51's, Zero's, 109's, 190's, Corsairs, a couple of Avengers, an F6f, a 262, V-1, F-86, Mig15, F-104, Tomcat, Hornet and my favorite the Dauntless.

The biggest problem for me is their size. I don't have enough room to display more than a few at a time.

At the height of the 1/18th craze I saw a spinach 109 go for more than $800 on the bay. Which is hilarious considering they sold at Wally World for less than forty bucks.

My first wife was very understanding of my disease. All of mine were hung from the livingroom ceiling. The 109 was coming out of the hallway. The Corsair was above my oak desk in the dining room. My 12 inch wittle nazi officers were on the wall shelf behind the desk  Still have them.

I've often thought about hanging them in my living room, but I get strange enough looks when people see them hanging in my "airplane room"/ mancave. I do have the BBi Hartman 109 in my living room sitting on a table.

I build my own   :D

I've done a few custom paint jobs on mine. Including Blackburn's "Big Hog", Tom Hayes "Frenesi", and a Russian P-40. The pony, and P-40, are on the backburner for now since I don't know where I will display them when finished.

Nice looking models. I remember seeing them at the Toys R Us many years ago and passed on them because of their size.

Going through the toat with the helmets I still have from restoring I found....

My wittle nazis !!!!  Had them for 20 years. I decided that two of the wittle guys can guard my helmet case.

My first wittle guy is an SS officer. Coller tabs on both made from online insignias shrunk down with photoshop and glued in place.

My second is a Heer General.

Out of retirement they guard my man cave.

I have the 12" Hartman figure, Billy Hicks B-17 waist gunner, and the F-14 pilot all by Dragon. They are still in the box until I figure out where to display them.

SIK1 you are a man after my own heart.   :aok

Eagler my second wife is not so accepting of my "stuff", I'm seeing how long it will take for her to notice my wittle nazi guards.

Though she is happy that I'm going to paint up some helmets because she knows I enjoy it. But jeez the paint prices are crazy. All my stuff besides the two cans of paint are in the mail. Have a M38 Para repo, M35 repo, a M16 and a M42 to paint up.
