Disabling the touch controllers is the first thing I did. They're next to useless for this. You use the headset as your mouse. Bring up the clipboard and use the dot that appears in the center of your view to select stuff. Can use your mouse buttons to click on it.

okay how do you disable the little annoying touch controllers? ATM I'm having to leave the right hand controller in my lap just in case but using the headset as a mouse is pretty cool.

keep having to remap my controllers (nothing technical just a comfort issue) but it's like learning to type blind again and again LOL.  That's okay I love stuff like this.

Is there a good command for a button that will just recenter my head though?  Mine always seems a little 'off' left or right?

well this is lovely.  Got my controllers mapped and everything set up to my liking and can remember about half of what button to push when now all of the sudden I'm getting the famed 'don't move your controllers so rapidly' message over and over.  The thing even crashed on autotakeoff a few times.  I'm going to do a delete all, reinstall, and start over which I think would be best at this point.  I probably hosed something up in setting up my controllers.  BUT on a positive note (because I always prefer to think in a positive manner) I'm making progress for a change.  That's something to feel good about right?  LOL

Ok getting rid of the touch controllers. In map controllers select them and check the disable controller box. Easy enough. You'll notice there's a jsm file for them with all your other controllers in the settings folder.

The stop moving your stick thing can be a couple of things. Firstly, duh, stop jerkin it around! Jk! What stick is it? Something been sitting around a few years? Something with pots that need cleaning? You can see what's happening, again in map controllers. Check the advanced box. Select an axis and move the stick back and forth slowly along that axis. The scale should move slowly. If it's jerkin around you have either a dirty pot or bad connection in your stick. Either clean or replace the pots. Tighten up the wire connections. If it's a newer one with magnetic sensors it could have stuff stuck on the magnet. Clean the magnet and check the wire connections. Or chuck the whole thing and get a new one!

less than a year old.  And no I do NOT jerk my stick.  Well not my ch fighterstick anyway :).  Oddest thing is it just started yesterday. I wasn't comfortable with my layout I had set up and redid them according to instructions above.  I think I may have some kind of corrupted file going on.

Nope. It's not a corrupted file. Something in the stick. I had a fighterstick a long time. I'd get this and I that just told me it was fine for a good cleaning. Get some contact cleaner--make sure it's safe for plastics. Take the base plate off the stick. You'll see the pots. Make note of which color wire is where on the little spade connectors. Pull them off. If any seem really loose - - that might be part of your problem. Pull the pot off. It'll slide out of there easy. Give each a good spray of the contact cleaner. Get it inside and move the post around. Now put it all back together. If any of those little connectors are loose give them a squeeze with some pliers. They shouldn't be wiggling around on the pot. Give that a shot and see if it doesn't clear it up.

Another thing came to mind is plug your controls into a powered hub.

It's taken a long time guys and I'm so grateful to all of you for your patience and continual advice I can't express.  Month or so offline, some time in the TA, then see if JG11 will take me back :)

Welcome back Dicho, Looking forward to having you back in the Gruppe  :aok

When does it happen? Is it only when fighting? I used to get that message when lining up a shot.

I believe the game just tracks the controller travel over time.

Flying offline or in the TA and triggering the message on purpose is useful for learning to avoid it. Try to trigger the message with just the stick, just the rudder, and all together.

If it happens randomly look for spiking in the pitch, roll, or rudder axis. You should check for spiking in the advanced tab in controller setup in any case if you have analog pots.

Filming can be helpful because you can see your controller movement in films.

It just started acting wonky from the jump.  Other than firing up the smoker tomorrow am and a few things I've got a relatively 'free' weekend.  I'm hoping by tomorrow night or latest Sunday I've got this nonsense sorted.

Would storing the stick on it's side when not in use vertically intercourse it?

LOL.. got the same thing today just trying stuff out.  My next challenge is going to be remembering what the heck I set to what button.  Took me 4 tries to find autopilot level in which I shut off my engine, deployed my gear, pulled up the map, and shut the dang engine off again.

I DO need to figure out how to turn the oculus handsets off and just use my mouse though.  The handsets are a pain in the butt and run the risk of spilling my beer (that has happened twice).  A buddy of mine and I designed and built this 'desktop' that fits into the cupholders on my chair https://imgur.com/B2lyHyG. Black covering is the soft side of velcro and I've got the 'teeth' in the bottom of my controllers.  So.. getting out of it to clean up a spilled beer or evacuate my bladder is a bit of a pain in the posterior  :rofl  That said the controllers, a keyboard, and a mouse, fit very nicely.  Gotta toss some 'teeth' side of velcro on the bottom of my pedals because they slip around too much on that old rotten rug under my chair.  Seriously looking forward to remodeling my loft late this year.

Please explain your ceiling!  :headscratch:

The controller is not the issue unless it's spiking.

Calibrate each axis in AH advanced settings. Set minimum deadband and no damping to start. I use default scaling on pitch and rudder. Assuming everything looks stable in advanced settings, no jitter or spikes, do the test I mentioned and try to lock up on purpose to see what it takes to trigger the message.

If you get jitter from the potentiometers add damping to that axis until the jitter goes away.  Unless it's a hardware issue you probably just need to relearn old habits.

Please explain your ceiling!  :headscratch:

I live in a loft in a metal house with my parents (80 / 85) so someone is here with them and they don't have to worry about assisted living.  They did so much for me throughout my life that when mom started making noise about 'wishing one of us kids was closer in case they needed help' I thought 'what the hell?  I work from home.  No skin off my nose'.  They just never finished this loft area out.  And ya it's poorly insulated.  Hotter than hell in the summer if I don't keep 2 ac's going full blast and colder than hell in the winter if I don't keep two radial heaters going.  Other than that I kind of dig on my loft. It's ugly, like me, has flaws, like me, but it's way cool, the jury is out on how we compare.
