B-24 500lbs Payload?
« on: June 28, 2023, 10:16:49 PM »
Was watching some docus on the B24 and was curious why our B24 in game can only take 12 500lbs bombs and not the full 16?

Maybe this has been covered but I couldn’t find a definitive answer from my search.
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

I think in AH max bomb loads are based on what a typical load out was in RL with full fuel tanks and max gun ammo. Most AH bombers could, but rarely did carry heavier loads in RL with reduced fuel over short ranges (i.e. Lanc with 22,000 lb Grand Slam). So if HTC increased the loadout for the B-24 it would likely be done for all the other bombers as well and we'd be back where we started relatively speaking.

The bombers that are in game have a good mix of load outs and armament. If you want planes to load out realistically then we can have an A-bomb or a sea mine load out or incendiary bombs or propaganda leaflets to drop over hard to take towns  :x

I’m just going by what the docs said. It specifically stated 16x500lbs, which is also 8k.

16 500lb bombs in my hands... shoot any pro bombers hands for that matter would be OP 👊 💪

With that combo you could WF a town, drop dar and VH then drop to the deck and deack the town then finish off the base by gunning down the odds bunkers on a small airfield. All in a single sortie. Granted your not making it back to base at that point but who cares :D

All of that in less than 10 minutes...

I think the main point I wanted to get across was it would certainly increase its capability. In the right hands with those kind of defensive guns at altitude one could say it would be OP.

Do you have a link to that article?  Which version of the B24 was it?

It was on the show Air Warriors, S9-E5. Original air date 3/21. There is a new season currently going so Smithsonian channel has been playing them all. It didn’t specify a model number that I remember. Was in the first part of the show.
