Because a Panzer is easier to kill with .50's than an M-16.  Because M-3s now are able to take 3-10 AP rounds before death.

No real reasons other than that.

The 75mm Howitzer on LVT4s has no effect on PT boats.

Yes.. it is kinda screwy now, methinks.  I've never been a real big fan of GVs, but I'm playing em some this tour.  My main AA gv is the M16 (my aim isnt good enough to hit with the ostie)-- and I think it is prolly a little bit to tough.  I've had spitfires, c-hogs, 30mm 190s, etc strafe me a few times before I got any damage.  Of course, on rare occasions, I lose my guns to 1 hit in a strafing run, but that is prolly normal.  I wouldn't wanna be the guy standing in the back shooting those guns, thats for sure.  The Ostie, on the few times I have used it, was easily put out of commision by <brave> 190f8 pilots, using their 20mm cannon.  The 1st guy didn't hurt me, the 2nd knocked out the gun, and the third killed me.  All of the runs were from my side, I believe (I only saw the last 2).

Also... I don't know if this has relevance, but the field ack is awful good at spotting GVs that are raoming near the field, and it almost always gets me in one hit.  Any chance this can be looked at to, if someone other than me thinks it is a problem?

My Grandad used to man the M16s durring WWII and he told me that it was not a real safe thing to be in if anything shot at U but the quad 50s was one of the most armored places on the the thing it had a steal deflection sheild that covered the front and a very small bit of the top but not enough.  He said as long as the guns was pointed towards the attker U were pretty safe but if it was anyother way U were dead.  But my grandad didnt shoot down any german planes he only saw action from 1944-45 in the Ardens in a "colored" air-defense unit.  Where he earned the Bronze Star of Valor and a Purple Heart for his actions in the battle of the buldge.  But thats a different story and it involves a M16 in a anti-infatry roll.

                             Hodo

PS My grandad passed away in 1997 Feb 12. and I still morn his loss.

lol  :D  throw me on the pile-o-whiners too (sorry fatty)

situation 1 :

i don't do vh but i do attack em and i had a field day today. i made a pass on an m16 dropping 500 kg smack dab on it. nothing. i came for a second pass and saw it sitting on the crater! i opened up with 4 20mm and my cowl guns. nothing. some other guy hit it with another bomb and so on. I finally got the kill after everyone took turns punishing it, but wow!!

situation 2:

i am out of ord. so i make a parting cannon pass on a freshly spawned panzer. i lit him up good but didnt expect much since they have always been hard to kill. lo and behold i got a kill! i repeated as necessary and brought the total up to 6 kills in this fashion on one ammo load in the a5!

i dont know what the deal is but it its freaky to think of that open topped m16 driving through 1100 lbs of ordinance and cannon rds and a panzer dieing from a quick cannon pass. for what its worth -

Whining? lol.  Amazing how many people use the Whiner tag whenever possible, must make em feel superior in some weird sort of way.

Anyhow, killing a panzer on first pass with .50's may be possible because this may simulate commander crew kill, but generally after that, the panzer should button up and .50's would do jack.  I was strafed by an f6f which dove vertically on my ostie and kill my tracks, I thought my tracks were underneath my ostie?

And lets see all the non-whiners start whining when I park my gv on the rearm pad on the next vulched field I find.  Seems GV's are immune to acks reupping while they are on the rearm pad and can continue to vulch n kill acks with impunity.  But lets no complain about that either lest we be accused of whining.

You want to tell Rob53 that?  I put 1500 rounds in his tank with my M16 last night, and did nothing but take out his track, meanwhile he eventually found his aim and killed me with 2 shots (one taking out track, second one killing me).  1500 yards close combat.

What really need to be fixed is gv's tracks. They are made of a paper, single ping of anything kill them, and it even not in dammage list after that! Reported it as a bug twice, nothing done yet. Afraid we have to wait till next version.

Agreed, looks like everyones getting a different result with M16's and M3's, however, I can take out tank tracks with almost a single .50 bullet..

not sure how to answer that after your tirade on whiner taggers but no it wasn't on the rearm pad it was in the open or just spawning.

i think every person here is more or less joking about anyone else being a whiner - i know i am. it is kind of a ribbing way to say you are serious about something - some people don't need an actual bug or flaw to whine they just do so at every chance and it detracts from real progress. joking about it is a way to say " hey really look at this don't glaze over it isn't another long boring whine from XXXXX"

ciao-
