Learning new sofware, again.
« on: October 22, 2023, 08:44:19 PM »
DLed this today,...spending some time learning it. Things have come a long way since the last time I did explosions and flames. Gonna dig this. Hopefully I can make a few things that are able to be imported and usable. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I have had better luck with Unreal Engine than using Blender. The explosions look nice will have to see what Blender is has going on. Its been a couple of years since I used it. I do a lot of 3d drawings mostly Arch and Industrial stuff. I import most of my stuff into Unreal for animations.

I'm kinda bip-boppin around. I guess I'd try Unreal Engine if I were doing bigger things with more detail. Like Davinci Video Editor, it has way more than I'll ever need. Right now, I'm just looking for explosion, fire and contrail type effects. Something that just cuts to the chase.

I DLed EmberGen not long after posting this. I think Blender and EG are similar, pretty much same results. Blender will dismantle objects in an explosion, haven't gotten to that yet in EG. Both do some real nice explosions, same as you see in modern sims/games.

What I need is them to output same file type used in AH, which I don't know yet. HT isn't responding.<shrug>
I have some really nice project files in VDB format. Same stuff ya see in WT, IL-2, DCS. Pretty much canned and ready to go. I assume if they could be used in AH they would need some res or size tweaking. I have unanswered questions. Knowing file type and size limits would get me there.

It's a personal project/hobby type thing. I have a lot of down time coming up. May never get used lol <shrug>
