It’s no fun when..

Kind of sucks when you don’t recover well from outpatient surgery and have to spend the night.

So look at the silver lining:

It wasn't an emergency admission.

It wasn't an emergency admission.

You get nice hospital food!

Sorry to hear this, Fuze, what was the issue?

Robotic hernia repair and I couldn’t keep water down afterwards. Had to stay until I wasn’t Vomitman. Now there’s a superhero for you.
Thanks in time I’ll be better. All started Oct 7 with an ER visit for severe pain. Hernia was secondary and left hip found to have a fibrous dysplasia which was the hot potato item pain wise. PT for the last month helped that a lot. I had planned to fly in the scenario but that hope vanished pretty fast.

Overnight isn't too bad.

My mom had her bile duct straightened and was sent home for a week to wait for the final control. The operation went well until the very end when they had issues with minor blood seeping. Well, in a couple of days she was back in the hospital, the seeping had caused an inflammation, very high fever with hallucinations etc.. That visit lasted over a month and made her loose the past year of her life from memory. It also triggered somewhat of dementia.

Get well soon.  :salute

Goonload of sympathy from here. I have some experience with back problems, as my lower one is rebuilt from small bone pieces taken from spines transverses together with titanium bars and fasteners. Took quite some time to recover and get rid of opiates. Well, if something positive, at least it was shortcut to early retirement.

Best to look at it as glass half full. The alternative of not waking up sucks!

I really did get off pretty easy considering.  Sister works at a blood bank and somebody at Mercy was having open heart surgery and needed lots of blood. And yes something could have gone wrong but didn’t.
Unlikely as it would be for that procedure I could have died, just as KOTH has! I’m an appendix on the CM Team and should be excised.
So much for that though, feeling better bit by bit and time heals all wounds as the say.

It's virtually impossible to sleep in a hospital. Try waking up in ICU with a dozen wires all over and 4 IV lines all going into a neck port. Makes ya feel like a meatball in a plate of spaghetti.

Stay with the physical therapy. It might hurt a bit but it pays dividends in getting rid of the pain and complications with mobility later on. It also might help to use a small pillow to hold against the incision site when you need to get up.

Totally agree Maverick and I have sleep problems at home too.  Not giving up on PT and want to get back into it as soon as possible.  I am not in shape and PTs benefits just keep popping up.
I do hold my guts when coughing. I have more discomfort than pain so far which is good. Have to get a few systems back online, mainly digestion.  Getting better by the minute.
Last night my heart was complaining. 190/100 and pulse of 114 with an irregular beat. My BP monitor said it was a hypertension crisis so called after hours Dr. who had me pop another lisinopril. Seems to beating regular today.

Glad you got past that. I had to go in and get my throat cut a couple months back. I was fine, but still had to spend the night, wasn't much fun, got out on my birthday.

That’s a good B-day present.
I was trying to remember my last hospital visit as a patient and it was at Mercy back in 90 or 91.  Woke up with a small elephant on my chest and went to Egypt to stay in Da nile all day. Finally went to a care canter and I did have a small heart attack. They said it was a 1% er with no blockages and I was 35 then.  Turned out I have a minor heart defect, a cardiac bridge, and at times my heart beating can interfere with the hearts blood supply.  Hasn’t given me much trouble but if it does I’ll get stented.

The plot thickens. PCP gave me two more scripts to take with a diagnosis of A-Fib. Time to see the cardiologist. I wonder if any of these meds will make me dance around the house like in the commercials?
