Geforce RTX 4070
« on: January 22, 2024, 03:15:34 AM »
The game isn't recognizing this graphics card. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You.

A wild guess, based on experience:

Is your monitor connected to a vertical or horizontal connector in the back of your PC? It should be in the horizontal one.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

A wild guess, based on experience:

Is your monitor connected to a vertical or horizontal connector in the back of your PC? It should be in the horizontal one.

The monitor is a Gigabyte 32" UHD KVM Gaming monitor running at 144Hz connected to the PC via the Display Port. The female connectors in the monitor face the desk and are all in the same orientation.
I noticed the highest refresh rate available using the HDMI cable was 60Hz. I haven't tried the game using the HDMI cable yet.  :headscratch:

Thanks!

Edit:

Using the HDMI connection did not fix the problem. Uninstalling and installing the game using the HDMI connection did not fix the problem.

I guess this is possibly your problem:

There's two or three things that may be the culprit.

First, if you've connected to a vertical slot i.e. to the upper part of the motherboard, you'll be using the Intel Graphics instead of the Nvidia.
Second, if you've connected to a horizontal slot in the middle of the case i.e. to the 4070, you may have to assign AH to use the more powerful card in the Nvidia Settings panel>3D Settings>Program Settings tab. That's a common issue with laptops with a gaming level video card.
Third, if you just think the game doesn't recognize the card i.e. you see the refresh rate being stuck to 60 instead of 144 Hz, you'll have to first unleash the refresh rate either using the buttons on the monitor or the Gigabyte program in Windows. Then you'll also have to adjust the refresh rate in Nvidia settings>Display>Change resolution. There's a drop down menu for refresh rate.

Looks like your DP cable is plugged into the onboard video and not the video card.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Thank you soooooo much! I'm feeling really stupid right now but I don't care. I just spent a bunch of money on this computer just to play this game.
I quit playing this game about 15 years ago due to a combination of things including my internet connection and computer specs. Just so you know, I was getting an in game frame rate
of 25-30 off the chip at default video settings. Now with the card Im getting a solid 143 fps sitting in the plane on the ramp with almost all the boxes unchecked (default by game). I'm very happy now.
Thanks!!!   :D :D :D :D
