Before I flew from Seattle to Milan, Italy, I asked an ER doc to write me a script for a couple mg's of a benzo as I'm an anxious flyer. He obliged and with a half mg of Xanax and a glass or 2 of wine on board, I was actually not against the pilot perhaps trying a barrel roll over Illinois or Indiana otw to Kennedy. It's the only way to fly.

I quit in 91, cold Turkey. Of course that was after trying off and on for 10 years.

I gave it up around same time. Did it by leaving the first cigarette of the day later and later. Then, when it was afternoon, I knew I'd win. Finished the job with nicotine chewing gum which I gradually changed to a xylitol one.

Man, I'll say. My curiosity was piqued after reading the back-end of this thread so I went to see what Copenhagen snuff costs these days. I found some at a convenience store in Vancouver, Wa. going for $8.75 a can, holy smokeless! I remember paying 33 cents a can and being mad when it hopped up to 50 cents back when ol' Walt Garrison and Cale Yarborough were telling me it was "a safe alternative to smoking."

I smoked for a year or two in highschool. A pack of Marlboro was 35 cents. Woodrow Wilson HS in Dallas had an area in the center of the school with no roof called the smoking corner. Students were allowed to smoke there. I graduated in '72.
