Reminisce..

During last night's weekly bomber mission with the Dickweeds and Dirty Devils bomber groups, the few of us that remain in the 91st Bomb Group assisted with a coordinated City & HQ smash. Results were successful, albeit lacking in aerial resistance this round.

Kind of made me reminisce and search through old squad posts on the BBS, missing the days when 91st got started back in May of 2009 during the action-packed days of the Main Arena, and it grew to include several fighter groups/squads volunteering to escort on our squad night runs. Good memories of intense action brought on by some great guys on the opposing side at 20+K.

Found an old recruiting goodie from the 82nd FG, who covered us quite professionally on several of our runs. Highly missed good times. <S>

The Pigs On The Wing thoroughly enjoyed your weekly missions.  Which interestingly enough also fell on our squad night.  Oink  <S>

Great memories for me date back to AH1 & AH2 Bish missions. Back then, Bish were usually outnumbered by Rooks & Knights. So as to survive obliteration, quick strike missions were employed to capture bases, or destroy hostile HQ's (when that actually amounted to something nasty).

The guys I recall who posted the best strikes include Ripsnort,   Ghi, Chui, Reaper24 (who still does them) and a few others who's names escape me. Back then organized missions were being posted by all countries on a frequent basis...1, 2, 3+ @ hour.

Prior to the birth of AH3, Hitech dropped the radar detection alt from xxx to (pretty sure) 65 feet. Yeah...that was well received...lol. The missions got more inventive & disciplined in terms of alt.

The MOAM's was the one organized by a gal named Betty. She flew Typhoons and Lancaster's exceptionally well. She organized a Lancaster mission one busy Sunday evening...this is when there where 500+ on weekend nights. Anyway...about 75 folks joined and when Betty launched, about 95% of the buffs were crashing into nearby mountains. She selected the wrong (and worst) runway spawn. Funniest thing I ever saw in-game.

RIP Betty  :salute

Yup it was changed from 200 to 65. It was due to all the NOE missions that were being run making the game more of a "wack a mole" type game play than a battle type game.

Some changes were needed along the way through the years. Some of those changes need a bunch of tweaking to get it right ( down times for HQ and city). Some things didnt work ( base capture lines) but at least there was some attempt to make things work better.

I wish Hitech took the time to hang out in the arena and maybe tried a few things. Remove some of the bigger maps, FTP basic plane set, refresh on Steam, basically things that dont look like they would cost much in the way of time and money but could make game play better for those of us who have supported him monthly for all these years.

Thanks, sir. Trying to make the most of it while I'm Stateside. I'll be headed back to the Philippines next fall.
