Bf 109K-4 of 9./JG 4. Pilot unknown. Based at Jüterbog-Damm, Germany in the spring of 1945.
This aircraft was photographed both while on operations and while in a scrapyard post-war. The camouflage scheme is typical of a late production K-4 with slabs of colors coming far down the fuselage sides. Based on the high contrast of the colors seen in the photos, I chose RLM 81 Dark Green and RLM 75 Gray Violet over the beige tinted version of RLM 76 colloquially known as "RLM 84" on the fuselage. The wings, elevators and rudder were supplied from workshop suppliers and finished in standard RLM 76 Light Blue on their lower surfaces. The JG 4 badge was painted on the nose and a broad tail band in JG 4's black-white-black Defense of the Reich colors.
