He 111H-6 of 8./KG 53 that participated in Operation Barbarossa in July 1941. The unit spent July based at Minsk, Belarus and undertook missions as far north as Leningrad and as far south as Kiev, but was mostly focusing on supporting Army Group Center's drive towards Moscow.
This specific Heinkel was photographed when returning from a mission. The camouflage scheme was the standard RLM 70 and 71 greens over 65 light blue. Yellow theater markings were painted on the prop spinners, lower wingtips and around the rear fuselage. The ID letter was painted in 8 staffel's color of red and given a white outline.
